 History
  Fort Bragg was established in 1857 to create an Indian Reservation, it was closed seven years later as a failure. More successful was the lumber company founded in 1855 which supported the town's growth and connected it by rail to the surrounding areas.

Climate - Average annual precipitation is 39.2 inches. The majority of the rainfall comes between October and April. It rarely gets cold enough to snow during the winter. Average high and lows for July are 64.8°F and 49.2°F. The same numbers for January are 55.3°F and 39.9°F.

Geography
- Fort Bragg lies on a rugged stretch of the Northern California coast. The city itself is built on a clearing, but the surrounding hills run to the cliffs. Great beach access points form naturally where rivers and creeks flow into the ocean. There are also many man-made access points.
